Write-up for Cats Game social (to the tune of Take Me Out to the Ball Game)
|
The July Social was held at a Cats ball game. The St. Paul Saints had no chance. Cold beer, peanuts and crackerjacks, MMM! We didn't care if we ever got back, for it was root, root, root for the Cats. 3 to 5 they won the game, YEAH! For it was one, two, three strikes we were out at the ol' ball game. |
|
The FW-TCYLA expresses sincere thanks to Errol Summerlin, Executive Director of Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, for his generous sponsorship of the Cats Game Social, but most of all for his and Legal Aid's presence and comraderie at the ball game. | FW-TCYLA WELCOMES SUMMER CLERKS
FW-TCYLA would like to welcome all summer clerks in Tarrant County! Please continue to read a special message from our President, which includes some links to some helpful and useful sites for your visit in Cowtown. Dear Future Colleague:
As President of the Fort Worth-Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association ("FWTCYLA") and on behalfofour Board, I extend to you a warm welcome to "Cowtown." We are very excited that you have chosen Fort Worth as the potential venue in which to begin your legal career.
Although I confess a little bias, I believe you will find Fort Worth to be a wonderful place to practice law, raise a family and enjoy a more stately pace than you might otherwise experience in other Texas cities. Likewise, the attorneys in Fort Worth pride themselves on their civility, respectability and comrade, which we hope you will come to know and appreciate during even your short clerkship this summer.
The FW-TCYLA celebrated its 81 st birthday this year and prides itself on its longstanding tradition of being the "service arm" of the Bar. The organization is dedicated to the advancement and enhancement of the legal profession through both service to the local community and the Bar. Roughly translated, this means that the FW-TCYLA is not only constantly involved with noble outreach projects for the public, like collecting and distributing Christmas toys to underprivileged children, but also providing services to our membership, like monthly happy hours, CLE luncheons and mentorship programs.
This summer the FW-TCYLA has organized a number of activities that are designed specifically to bring you together with members of the local Bar, in an effort to introduce you to many of your future colleagues. There are happy hours at some of the local watering holes, very interesting luncheon speakers at some of the area restaurants, an even a golf tournament.
I encourage you to come out and take advantage of these less formal opportunities to immerse yourself in the local legal community.
Here are some web links where you can find information highlighting a sampling of some of the sites and activities that the FW-TCYLA and the City of Fort Worth have to offer:
