Please join us at the Flying Saucer patio on September 15, 2021 for our annual TCYLA Fall Fete event. This event will be in-person and held outside on the Flying Saucer patio. The Tarrant Regional Water District is seeking volunteers for the 30th annual Trash Bash. TCYLA's community involvement committee is organizing a group of on-site volunteers to assist with cleaning up Fort Worth’s river and parks on September 18 at the Crystelle Waggoner Trailhead on the Trinity River. Please join us for TCYLA's upcoming CLE Luncheon at Reata as we welcome Mike Ware of the Innocence Project of Texas presenting: “Proving Actual Innocence by Clear and Convincing Evidence”  This presentation will be offered both in-person at Reata and simulcast to members who are either unable or not ready to attend in person, and the recording will be made available on the TCYLA website.

Mike Ware is the Executive Director of the Innocence Project of Texas.  He directs the organization's investigative and legal services. He is also an adjunct professor at Texas A&M University School of Law and supervises the Texas A&M Innocence Project legal clinic, which is an Innocence Texas partner.

He graduated with honors from the University of Texas with a degree in philosophy. He graduated from the University of Houston Law School in 1983, where he was research editor for the Houston Law Review and the Houston Law Review's Texas Rules of Evidence Handbook.

In 1984, Mike began private practice, specializing in criminal defense. His practice included representing police officers in criminal, civil and administrative matters as well as investigating and litigating whistleblower claims.
From July 2007 until July 2011, Mike was the Special Fields Bureau Chief for the Dallas County District Attorney's office, which included the Conviction Integrity Unit. In 2014, he received the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers' Association "Percy Foreman" Criminal Defense Lawyer of the Year award.

Slow-Pitch Softball League

TCYLA fall slow-pitch softball is underway! If you would like to come out and support the team (or play!), the upcoming games are as follows:
  • September 16 – 6:45 pm
  • September 30 – 9:30 pm
  • October 7 – 6:45 pm
Games are located at 3300 Bryant Irvin Rd., Fort Worth, TX 76109 and adult beverages are permitted on a BYOB basis (please, no glass containers). Games last approximately one hour and all start times are subject to change based upon weather conditions and game delays. If you have any questions or would like to play, reach out to John Easter.
 
TCYLA practices safety protocols in accordance with state and local rules, including the requirement to self-screen for COVID symptoms before playing and maintaining 6-feet distance between players at all times. Masks are encouraged. Players assume all risks of injury or sickness

Mr. Claywell’s presentation is intended for lawyers and will address the methods and techniques of valuing business for use in legal matters. 

Mr. Claywell, CPA, ABV, ASA, CBA, ICVS, CVA, MAFF, CFD, ABAR, CVGA has built a reputation for integrity and for providing key solutions since 1985, for clients in the legal and business communities and private individuals.
